A bit of a drama today.
We had set off to visit Musee Marmottan, home to many Monet's. As we were walking from the metro to the museum (in fact while jay walking across a busy road) Janet's left foot suddenly gave out causing great pain and restricting her to a desperate hobble to a nearby seat. We had to taxi back to the hotel and spend the afternoon on light duties while waiting for an appointment with a doctor.
The doctor diagnosed ligament damage from 'too much walking'. The treatment is painkillers and an ankle brace, along with favouring sitting in cafes over strenuous walking around museums and the like. So it is definitely a set back and not part of the plan! However, I'm sure we can work around it and still make the most of the trip.
As a result, we had a picnic lunch in our hotel room (see pic of outwardly unimposing building) with the sounds of Paris wafting in the open window and a view of the small park and metro station entrance across the road to enjoy.
Also said farewell to A & S as they headed for the airport and Singapore. It was great to have their company in Paris for a couple of days and pick up lots of useful tips about visiting other non Paris parts of France. Safe travelling!

Hi Janet and Phil,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this news about your foot at this stage of the journey. Do make sure you are satisfied with the doctors examination, especially if they haven't xrayed the problem area. Make sure you take antinflammatories as well as the painkillers. I think that for me they do the most good. Put your pressure stockings on also if you have them.
Just remember to avoid the chocolate croissants as you sip your coffee.
With my love and prayers for speedy return to some less painful mobility,
David
I have a brace and painkillers. I am to wear the brace for 10 days . I did have an X-ray in Wellington before I left which didn't show up anything. I may need to get a second opinion if it doesn't improve. It is difficult to weary shoes with the brace. All rather liting in terms of what I can do so rather a bore. Thanks for your thoughts
